On the air, whilst in the air

This week, I am writing to you from somewhere high above the African continent, on The Greatest Safari on Earth℠. Outside the window, the landscapes I love dearly, the vast savannahs, ancient forests, waterways and deltas, unfurl with such beauty that it still stops me in my tracks.

Over the past months, I’ve had the privilege of speaking about this land I love on some of the world’s most extraordinary platforms. Each conversation is its own journey – thoughtful, personal, and always returning to the same truth: that this continent transforms us.

What a privilege to be interviewed by Pilar Guzmán, Editorial Director of Oprah Daily. We wandered from the memories of my Zimbabwean childhood during the war of liberation to the deeper truth of why this continent changes us. I spoke about silence, stillness, and space, the rarest luxuries of our time, and how Africa holds them like nowhere else on earth. We explored the profound shifts made by our Women’s Empowerment movement in the safari industry and how changing perceptions can reshape age-old stereotypes, both tribal and Western.

To be invited by Emirates, the world’s most exceptional airline, to speak on their World Interviews series was an incredible honor. I share my deep connection to Africa and my belief in the pure power of its landscapes to return us to source: the source of our wild and natural intelligence, our unbidden peace, our deepest nourishment.
