In a time of great uncertainty, both economically and culturally, going into the unknown and allowing oneself to be spoiled can feel very foreign and perhaps even undeserving. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about our stolen focus and what it takes to truly gift oneself something. We’re constantly connected, always just a message or a ping away and reachable within seconds. And yet somehow, despite this scrolling, responding, never-ending urgency, we’re more disconnected than ever. When was the last time we truly sat across from someone we love, without distraction? When we listened, uninterrupted, or simply wandered without an agenda and without time as our keeper? The intimacy and joy of real time together has become something of a rarity and I really do fear that in all this instant communication, we’re in danger of losing touch not only with each other, but with ourselves.

In celebration of Father’s Day and valuing time together, we have created the ultimate spoil - an 11-night itinerary, Birdies, Barrels, Bugattis & Breeders in South Africa, designed not only for fathers, but for the people who matter most in your life. It’s about slowing down long enough to share something beautiful, be it across the fairways, deep in South Africa’s most exquisite vineyards, behind the wheel of a vintage car or on safari, the continent’s wild spaces stretching before you.

These experiences are truly exceptional, but what makes them rare is that they are simply not accessible elsewhere. Offered only through our deep-rooted partnerships and personal relationships, this itinerary is a masterclass in insider access that can only come from a lifetime of experience on the continent.

The journey begins in Cape Town. Established in 1885, the Royal Cape Golf Club, is the oldest course in South Africa and ‘birdies’ unfold against a backdrop of Table Mountain, endless blue skies and the thrill of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

In the emerald valleys of the Cape Winelands, we open the gates to L’Ormarins through a long-standing personal friendship. The private estate of the Rupert family is home to one of the most spectacular vintage car collections in the world, including Bugattis, Ferraris and Bentleys. Our rare, insider access offers the chance to take one of the iconic cars on a stately drive, an opportunity offered to almost no-one else. From there, step inside the impeccably-kept private warehouse for a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic vehicles, before exploring more of the estate: the Drakenstein Stud Farm (closed to the public) to view the season’s stallions, and the magnificent wine cellar to taste rare vintages surrounded by history and heritage.

Then it’s on to the fairways of Fancourt, including The Links, a private, invitation-only course widely-regarded as Gary Player’s magnum opus. Created in collaboration with course architect Phil Jacobs, every contour and bunker has been sculpted to echo the classic Scottish and Irish links, transforming a former airfield into a true feat of design brilliance. You will also play the prestigious Leopard Creek, where giraffe, antelope and other wildlife wander the edge of the fairways. The 505-meter par-five 13th is one of the most memorable holes, its green perched 32 meters above the Crocodile River, offering magnificent views up the water and into the Kruger itself.

The final chapter of the journey takes place in the Sabi Sands, one of Africa’s most respected private reserves. Slow down the tempo and enjoy days shaped by game drives and the thrill of watching the continent’s most iconic wildlife in a breathtaking natural setting. It’s a place that invites deeper conversation and reflections on all you have experienced, and to reconnect and simply be. And in the end, the most memorable part of the journey probably won’t be the golf or the cars, but this chance to spend pure, undistracted time together…

This one-of-a-kind itinerary costs from $48,000 per person sharing and whilst dates are of your choosing, access is extremely limited. For more information or to book, please reach out to us on welcome@roarafrica.com.
