Rwanda

Rwanda gets our vote for rising above its war-torn past to become one of the safest countries in Africa and the 9th safest country in the world (according to the World Economic Forum).

Combining wildlife and adventure with a high-value, low-impact eco-tourism model, a trip to Rwanda is experiential travel at its best, with world-class eco-hotels, an incredible food scene and that most essential of holiday factors: good coffee.

The Nyungwe Forest National Park, known as the Amazon of Africa, is another must-see for the opportunity to track chimpanzees or spot the elusive golden monkeys and troops of the white colobus monkeys.

Rwanda is also one of only three countries globally where you can still see mountain gorillas in the rainforests of the Virunga Mountains.

“Everything is organized like a fine ballet.

You don’t have to think about what you’re doing because Deborah has already done that. You get to relax, get out of the hustle and bustle and just be, in Africa. It’s fantastic.”

“There is a language going on out there, the roars, snorts, trumpets, squeals, whoops and chirps that have meaning derived over eons of expression. We have yet to become fluent in the language – and music – of the wild.” - Boyd Norton
