Poet Kahlil Gibran once said, “Music is the language of the spirit.” For me, this has proven to be true throughout my life, no matter where I am. Music moves, inspires, motivates and transports me. It sets the tempo – sometimes fast, sometimes slow, always evocative – it’s what gets me into my flow, often bringing me back to moments of pure joy and delight.
Our playlist for The Greatest Safari on Earth will live on in my head forever. Each song holds memories of these tremendously fun trips with guests laughing in their pajamas, bubbling with excitement as we disembarked in each new location, their faces bright with smiles, hips swaying as they stepped into the next wave of the unknown. Just like smell, sound summons memory, vision and feelings.
Whether it’s the iconic words of TOTO, “It’s gonna take a lot to take me away from you”; the Paul Simon chorus announcing our literal arrival “Under African Skies”; Kasiva Mutua’s drumbeat pulsing through our veins; or the lilting opening chords of Geoffrey Oryema’s “Makambo”, these are the sounds of my homeland. We’ve collated our ROAR Rhythms playlists for you to dream, dance, decompress and drown out the whirr of airplane engines, helicopter blades or squawking humans as you jet off on your summer adventures. Perhaps, while you are in motion, remember why we travel… to find the best versions of ourselves. Let us take you there with ROAR Rhythms.
Safe travels!
