The Greatest Safari on Earth 2025 costs $195,000 per person.
We aim to minimize the environmental impact of ROAR AFRICA travel and purchase carbon credits equivalent to all our emissions, contribute to wildlife conservation and invest in the communities that host us.
1. Matetsi, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
This adventure towards awe starts in my homeland of Zimbabwe. To stand before Victoria Falls, face to face with the sheer force of the almighty Zambezi River plummeting 354 ft before us, quite literally soaks you in wonder. While at the falls, we’ll stay at Matetsi. This game-changing property, replete with superb service, style, and African authenticity, marries the best of the Falls with the ample wildlife only water attracts. To wake up steps from the Zambezi to see herds of elephants drinking and splashing along the riverbanks is quite something. As dusk descends and the sky turns from pink to fiery gold, it’s not uncommon to spot rare birds swooping and graceful herds of impala darting toward the shore.
2. Xigera, Okavango Delta, Botswana
To discover the meandering twists and turns of the Okavango Delta, one of the most pristine and wild places on earth is a privilege and a joy. There is no better perch to marvel at the majesty of this extraordinary landscape than Xigera. This bold, authentic, ultra-luxurious property is a true homage to Africa and the realized dream of the Tollman family. Its crowning glory lies in its design. A commitment to preserving Africa’s rich cultural heritage inspired Xigera’s “living gallery” of contemporary African talent, including works by over 70 of the continent’s most celebrated artists, artisans, master craftsmen, and creatives.
3. Angama Mara, Masai Mara, Kenya
The iconic Masai Mara landscape is Africa on steroids. This vast expanse of wilderness is home to the annual great migration – one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the planet. Located some 500 feet above The Great Rift Valley, one of the most ancient geographical features on our planet, Angama Mara (meaning “suspended in midair” in Swahili) is a clever and immeasurably comfortable distillation of one couple’s lifetime of experience and innate understanding of what guests want. Better yet, the lodge is perfectly positioned on the edge of the same scenic escarpment where many scenes in the iconic Out of Africa were filmed - arguably the best view in all of Africa.
4. Trip 1: One&Only Gorillas Nest, Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
Rwanda is a tiny, emerald green country of extraordinary resilience and reconciliation with a gorilla conservation story of epic success. You’ll find One&Only Gorilla’s Nest tucked into towering forests and fragranced by roses. This expansive, serene property feels like your own personal slice of rainforest paradise with every possible comfort on hand. It’s a quiet, tranquil place whose close connection to the abundant surrounding nature fosters a deep sense of peace.
4. Trip 2: Singita Kwitonda, Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
Singita Kwitonda is set on 178 rewilded acres with direct views of Rwanda’s sacred Sabyinyo, Gahinga, and Muhabura volcanoes, home to our planet’s rare mountain gorillas. To wake up in your all-glass suite to this iconic view, shrouded by the swirling mists and early rays of dawn is simply breath-taking.
“Some might say that “best” is a subjective concept, after five journeys, fifty guests and hundreds of lives transformed, I believe that The Greatest Safari on Earth is the very best trip in the world right now. I say this with confidence because I designed this trip in a completely new and novel way. It’s the culmination of my lifetime of lived experience in Africa. Each step is choreographed to meet our innate yearning for awe, our physiological need for nature and the rhythm of our emotions as they sway and soar in the wild.”
Every aspect of our journey is designed to ensure that we take you to those places where humans remain outsiders and where you will have the opportunity to rediscover and redefine what it means to reconnect with nature. As with our very first trip in 2021 and two sold-out trips in 2022 and 2023, we purchase carbon credits equivalent to all emissions, protect wildlife and invest in the communities that host, with funding going back into projects on the ground in Africa.
