Editorial Director

Seeking a visionary Editorial Director to lead our brand storytelling and communications efforts and contribute to our dynamic and talented marketing team. You will be the architect of ROAR AFRICA’s storytelling and content presence, shaping a comprehensive media strategy that fuels brand presence and growth, drives lead gen and propels our brand presence to supreme heights. You will work closely with Founder and CEO, Deborah Calmeyer, executing her brand vision and voice and meeting the content and marketing needs of the CMO. Ideally educated to degree level and above, curious, sophisticated and refined, well-travelled with an in-depth knowledge of the media and ultra-luxe travel landscape.


  • Storytelling Visionary – Ability to ideate, research, edit and produce a comprehensive digital media content strategy encompassing mailers, specific marketing nurture series, landing pages, seo-optimized content and more that uniquely positions ROAR AFRICA as a leader in the luxury Africa travel and lifestyle sector.
  • Digital Command Centre – Proven experience with generating impactful content driven toward lead generation through media channels, partnership development and brand collaborations.
  • Content Mastermind – Spearhead and manage the creation of high-quality content and copywriting that resonates with the 0.1% UHNWI audience, showcasing the transformative power of ROAR AFRICA experiences through our own unique lends and utilizing Founder and CEO, Deborah Calmeyer’s voice.
  • Media Strategist – Lead the development and execution of a dynamic media strategy that fosters vibrant communities, amplifies brand awareness, and drives qualified leads in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Team Catalyst – Contribute toward a collaborative and results-oriented marketing team, displaying thought leadership, and empowering individuals to thrive and excel. Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders and provide clear content direction and planning.
  • Visual Connoisseur – Innate understanding and appreciation that you are showcasing something much more than travel. You are changing lives.
  • Impeccable Producer – Oversee content production from ideation to creation and implementation, from crafting stories and conducting interviews, to writing and managing the production and publication of said content in collaboration with Deborah Calmeyer, creative directors, graphic designers and web developers.


  • 5+ years of experience in digital media and content strategy, ideally in the luxury / travel sector.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful digital media content strategies and authentic brand storytelling that drives revenue growth.
  • Deep understanding of storytelling, editing, digital content production and SEO best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to motivate, inspire, and mentor a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to articulate complex topics with sensitivity and nuance, alongside digital content strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Keen mind for collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Passion for travel, storytelling, luxury experiences, and wildlife conservation. Africa's beauty and story should ignite your spirit.
