Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls, otherwise known as The Mosi-oa-tunya (The smoke that thunders), is one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World and a World Heritage Site. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful waterfalls on earth. Explore the Zambezi River and the tranquil lagoons upstream, go white water rafting or simply watch in amazement as the water cascades down, causing a spectacular explosion of rainbow-colored spray.
Matetsi Victoria Falls

Just 25 miles upriver from the rush and spray of the Falls, Matetsi Victoria Falls offers both world-class safari experiences and an idyllic oasis from which to explore, adventure, relax and recharge. Experience stellar five-star services rivaled only by the spectacular natural wonders surrounding the lodge. You, accompanied by knowledgeable, conservation-minded guides, are invited to explore Matetsi Private Game Reserve’s 55 000 hectares of protected and unspoiled wilderness on foot, by vehicle and by boat, while great herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game delight and amaze. Matetsi showcases two intimate camps of just nine river-facing suites each, including two family suites. The spacious River Lodge suites at each camp feature luxurious local and repurposed materials and design references to time-tested riverside living, fishing and weaving traditions of the region. Flight of the Angels Helicopter flight over Victoria Falls

Experience the 'Flight of Angels' perspective first hand. Originally coined by David Livingstone when he first wrote about the area surrounding the Falls - ‘a sight so wonderful that Angels must have gazed down on it in flight’. After take-off the helicopter turns out towards the magnificent Victoria Falls, the pilot will fly left and right-hand circuits over the Victoria Falls in both directions giving you the best viewing, photographic and filming opportunities. A trip up the Zambezi River and back over the Zambezi National Park completes your flight. Flight duration is 12 – 13 minutes.
Victoria Falls Guided Tour

Victoria Falls reaches its zenith in about May each year, but no matter when you visit, seeing the falls is an awe-inspiring experience. You have the option of taking this tour in the morning, or in the afternoon. On the tour, you will be accompanied through the rainforest by one of the qualified guides, who will give you a brief history of the falls, as well as detailing the flora, birdlife and wildlife, as well as other points of interest. 3 Nights in Moremi Game Reserve
Day 4
- Xigera Safari Lodge
Moremi Game Reserve

The Moremi Game Reserve is one of the world’s greatest safari destinations. It covers nearly 20 percent of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. It is the first reserve in Africa that was established by local residents (the Batawana people) who were concerned about the rapid depletion of wildlife on their ancestral lands. Moremi has a variety of landscapes, with areas of dry woodland and savannah next to picturesque floodplains and lagoons, making it one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. It is one of the few places in Botswana where you can see the Big Five, and it is a sanctuary for many animals. It is also known for its large herds of plains game such as buffalo, zebra and wildebeest.
Xigera Safari Lodge

Unique, authentic and pioneering, Xigera (pronounced Kee-jeera) delivers the ultimate bush experience. This bold, authentic, ultra-luxurious property is the realized dream of the Tollman family, and its crowning glory lies in its specialized eco-architecture and unique interior design. Akin to a living art gallery and a true homage to Africa, the property is located on the aptly named “Paradise Island” deep within the Moremi Game Reserve. Positioned to ensure the utmost privacy and glorious seclusion, all twelve spacious, solar-powered, air-conditioned suites sit on stilts above the untouched landscape, allowing wildlife to pass beneath undisturbed. At the same time, the latest Tesla solar hybrid system supplies 95% of the lodge’s required power, aiding the property’s already minimal carbon footprint. A commitment to celebrating Africa’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary art scene inspired the gallery of contemporary African talent that unfolds throughout the lodge - including pieces by over 70 of the continent’s most celebrated artists, artisans, master craftspeople and creatives. Each of Xigera’s stunning suites is equipped with air-conditioning, a lounge area with television, a bedroom, a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom. They also have expansive private wooden decks, including a king-size outdoor daybed with a gazebo for daytime or night-time lounging and stargazing.
Day 5
- Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera Safari Lodge
Game Drives at Xigera

The lodge has a flexible approach to game drives. There is always an early start option for those eager to be the first up and out to find any predators on the move or still on the hunt from the night before, or there is a later departure for those who want to rather ease into the day with an early morning yoga or gym session or just a sleep-in before going out. The guides will drive you for mile upon mile in the special fleet of purpose-built 4x4 vehicles, adapted for the demanding environment of the Okavango Delta. These supremely capable off-road vehicles ensure no sighting is out of reach, taking you to places where you’ll likely see the legendarily shy sitatunga and red lechwe antelope. The greater area is also home to buffalo and hyena, while the big cat population includes lions and leopards. All these mammals roam from island to island in their hunt for food, and to encounter them in their natural home as they go on their travels is truly extraordinary. Elephants are drawn to the many inland shorelines where they can keep cool, while dozens of smaller native animals, as well as crocodiles, add to the magical biodiversity for you to observe.
Okavango Delta Scenic Helicopter Flight

A scenic flight over the Okavango Delta is one of the most unforgettable ways to experience this pristine landscape. Moments after take-off, the full beauty of the Delta is revealed: crystal-clear channels meandering across the floodplains, lagoons glinting in the sunlight and herds of wildlife moving below. With the helicopter doors removed, every angle is a photographer’s dream as you soar over some of the most remote, untouched corners of the wilderness. Flights can be arranged at any time of day, though photographers often prefer the golden light of early morning or late afternoon, while others enjoy soaring above the Delta during siesta hours.
Day 6
- Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera Safari Lodge
Mokoro Excursions and Boating at Xigera

Water is life at Xigera, ebbing and flowing with the seasons and feeding the eco-system as it has done for millennia. Primarily, it’s the giver of food for the teeming wildlife, but the wetlands also provide the conduits through which you can experience even more of the Delta at first hand. During the wet months, slip stealthily through the sultry waters on a beautiful glass-bottomed mokoro craft (a traditional canoe) or sleek motor boat to experience the labyrinthine waterways. You might catch fleeting glimpses of dusky bream and silver squeaker fish that throng these parts when the waters are high enough, darting between waterlilies. Following the direction of their guides, you will see the hippos and crocodiles that rest in the cooling lagoons throughout the Okavango Delta, and possibly the elephants that wade on their perimeters.
Bush Walks at Xigera

A guided bush walk at Xigera offers a completely different perspective of the Okavango Delta: quiet, deliberate and deeply immersive. Led by highly trained guides, you’ll learn to read the subtle signs and language of the wilderness. From tracks in the sand and birdcalls overhead to the scent of wild sage on the breeze, every step brings you closer to the ecological intricacies of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a chance to slow down, sharpen your senses and experience the Delta not just as a place, but as a living, breathing presence.

3 Nights in Mara Triangle
Day 7
- Angama Mara
Mara Triangle

West of the Mara River, beneath the Oloololo escarpment and bordered by Tanzania to the south lies the jewel of this great reserve: the Mara Triangle. Not only is this the most productive part of the entire Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in terms of grass nutrition, but it is also spectacularly scenic. The huge grassy plains are dotted with widely spaced Balanites trees that give the landscape an almost manicured look, which together with the steep-sided escarpment and broad Mara River, provides a breath-taking backdrop for wildlife photographers. For much of the year, the Mara Triangle has the lowest density of visitors in the Greater Maasai Mara, with just two lodges within its perimeters and a few on the northern border. The Mara Triangle has a high concentration of game all year-round including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino) and diverse plains game such as cheetah, hyena, jackal, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, waterbuck and many other species.
Angama Mara

Suspended on the rim of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment, it is said that Angama Mara is where heaven and earth collide. This exquisitely designed and luxuriously furnished lodge has the most unfathomably expansive vistas across the Mara. Here you can watch buffalos and elephants graze from the (exceptional) comfort of your deck. Angama Mara comprises two intimate camps, with 15 tented suites independently serviced and facilities that include a breathtaking communal area with a swimming pool, gym, and library. At Angama, personalized experience options are endless - whether you choose to drift across the vast Mara plains in a hot air balloon, embark on a walking safari with the local Maasai, or enjoy a picnic in the exact location where scenes from the iconic movie ‘Out of Africa’ were filmed - you’ll discover that Angama Mara is on another level, literally and figuratively.
The Great Migration at Angama Mara

Perched high above Kenya’s legendary Mara Triangle, Angama Mara offers one of the most privileged vantage points on earth for witnessing the seasonal Great Migration. From roughly late July into September, the hills and valleys below the lodge come alive with wildebeest, zebra and topi in their hundreds of thousands – a living tide on its millennia-old journey between the Serengeti and Masai Mara. While nature can never be predicted and sightings of the herds are not guaranteed, when they do arrive, the scale of the migration seen from Angama’s escarpment, is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
But it is at the Mara River where the drama reaches its peak. Just 45 minutes from the lodge lie some of the most famous crossing points, where the herds gather on the banks in restless anticipation before plunging headlong into the currents. Crocodiles wait below the surface, lions stalk the edges, and in an instant, survival is measured in heartbeats. These crossings are never guaranteed and often require patience: hours of waiting and picnics in the shade, perhaps, but always with the thrill of knowing that at any moment, the river might explode with movement.
What makes Angama singular is the choice it affords. Guests can immerse themselves in the intensity of the crossings or turn away from the crowds and discover another side of the Mara Triangle: vast golden plains dotted with inselbergs where prides of lion and cheetah hold court, forests where elephants amble and leopard stalk, and skies where hot-air balloons drift silently above the thronging herds.
Day 8
- Mara Triangle, Angama Mara
Angama Mara Hot Air Balloon

As the soft, early morning breeze takes your hot air balloon south, follow the Mara River (that runs directly through the path of the migration) and marvel at the unrivaled splendor of the African plains. An hour later you will be delivered back to earth on a natural high ready for a celebratory champagne breakfast – specially prepared under an Acacia tree in the middle of nowhere.
Game Drives at Angama

At Angama, every day is shaped entirely around you. Your guides will begin by asking where you’ve been, what you’ve seen and what you most long to experience, before building each drive and activity around your passions. You might set out at dawn to watch the savanna come alive with the rising sun, or enjoy breakfast before descending Angama Mara’s private road into the reserve. Within 25 minutes you’ll find yourself in the heart of the vast grasslands, surrounded by more wildlife than you can imagine, including Africa’s Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.
Day 9
- Mara Triangle, Angama Mara
Walking at Angama Mara

Angama offers a host of different walking safari options alongside experienced Maasai naturalists. All are tailor-made to suit your preferences and every fitness-level is taken into consideration, from gentle two-hour strolls to full day walking safaris. A popular and particularly beautiful route is to leave Angama Mara and head south along the edge of the Oloololo Escarpment, walking through dense forests and open areas in-between with views of the undulating Mara plains at several different points. Depending on the time of day and the length of walk, you may also include a picnic, cosy up under a blanket for drinks or even opt for a vehicle to take you back to the lodge.
Angama Mara’s Safari Shop and Craft Studio

Angama Mara’s Safari Shop offers you the opportunity to browse through a curated selection of Kenyan and African jewelry, fashion, artifacts and literature. Leading off from the shop is a Maasai craft studio, where you can try your hand at beading or even perhaps have the Maasai ladies bead a bespoke item onto your clothing.
Angama Mara Maasai Warrior Singing & Dancing

As the day ends, it’s time to sit back, sip a cocktail and watch the sun descend behind the Rift Valley from the spectacular vantage point of the Sundowner Boma — perfect for this, with its circular shape encapsulating the dramatic views overlooking the Maasai Mara.
‘Boma’ is a Kiswahili word, meaning an area surrounded by a fence often made of thorn branches or sticks. Traditionally as the sun set, livestock was gathered into this space to protect the animals from predators. Today, it is also a space in which people gather — more often around the fire than not — where the African night is welcomed with song, dance and celebration.

Day 12
- Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, Singita Kwitonda Lodge
Volcanoes Golden Monkey Trekking

The very beautiful Golden Monkey has a golden body, cheeks and tail with contrasting black limbs, crown, and tail-end. Not much is known about their behavior; other than they live in groups of up to 30 individuals and their diet consists mainly of leaves and fruit - it is believed they eat insects too. Restricted to the highland forest of the Virungas especially near bamboo, they share this habitat with their big Brother the Mountain Gorilla, inhabiting a small area that overlaps the territory of one of the Gorilla families. Trekking usually takes from 2 to 4 hours. Once you come to the habituated families, you will spend the allowed one hour with them as they go about their daily life.
Visit the Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund

Spend time immersed in the world of Rwanda’s mountain gorillas at The Campus. This vast, completely eco facility is adjacent to Volcanoes National Park, Designed to track the evolution of mountain gorilla research and conservation from Dian Fossey’s time to today, you’ll see original artifacts from Fossey’s almost two decades of living amongst the gorillas. Exhibits include stunning visual effects through a 360-degree immersive experience, augmented and virtual reality and numerous engaging opportunities to learn more about the science and, most importantly, people behind the conservation success of these critically endangered mountain gorillas. This is an important and very moving experience that thoroughly educates the guest on the complex work of the park and the importance of the biodiversity this misty rainforest landscape holds.
