South Luangwa Park

AFRICA AT HER MOST ABUNDANT
Find out why this 3494m2(9000 km2) park is referred to by many as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries on earth. An amazing assortment of animals completes the magnificent local landscape, dotted as it is with baobabs and lakes.

During your time spent here, expect to see at least a few of the species that call Luangwa home: hippos, crocks, buffalo, elephant, lion, impala, zebra and the endemic Puku. Over the summer months, the park's planes literally team with birdlife (over 400 species recorded). A bonus for our guests here is that limited accessibility means fewer visitors and ensures a fair amount of solitude and uninterrupted game-viewing pleasure. May to October is the preferred season for visiting South Luangwa although game is most easily spotted during the very hot months of September and October as the action centers very much on local watering holes and rivers (if you can handle the temperatures). Early morning and afternoon safaris are the norm here with night drives also permitted - a rarity for national parks in Zambia. Night drives are the perfect time to find the elusive leopard - the population density of which is higher here than almost anywhere else on earth.
