Drakensberg Mountains

THE PERFECT SETTING IN WHICH TO FIND TRANQUILITY

This peaceful mountain ("The Dragon's Back"), with beautiful hills and valleys, is visited by nature-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. It is a spectacular escarpment - hence the Zulu name "uKhahlamba" (Barrier of Spears) and is home to the second highest waterfall in the world (The Tugela Falls). It also boasts the second largest collection of rock art on earth: 35,000 to 40,000 Bushmen (San) paintings decorate the walls of caves and overhangs. Climbing, hiking, and bird watching opportunities abound, and the foothills provide excellent trout fishing retreats. No matter what activity you prefer, there is a deep sense of peace that exists in this magical setting of endless peaks and lush green carpeting. The views are dramatic and the air is crystal clear.
